The Public Service Division (PSD) runs the Civil Service Internship Programme (CSIP) annually.  The objective of the programme is to provide outstanding local and overseas undergraduates a first-hand feel of what working in the Civil Service is like.  Offered twice a year, the CSIP will give you an insight into the challenges of a civil service career.  We hope such experiences will give you more reasons to consider joining the Civil Service after graduation.

Our interns have this to say:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Open commasMy experience at PSD has been a fruitful and fulfilling one. My intention for an internship was not only to gain additional working experience, and also to experience for myself what it is like working in the public sector. PSD has given me ample opportunities to capitalize on my goals in this internship through the main project 'Branding the Civil Service'.

I have had many wonderful opportunities to engage in challenging work, this was made more meaningful with helpful and caring supervisors. PSD has a warm, family culture that strives in the heart beat of all staff.

All in all, this internship at PSD has been a real eye-opener to the Civil Service. Thank you PSD for giving me this opportunity to intern here and sincerely wish all staff here good health and a joyous time here.Close commas

Open commasWorking as an intern at PSD has not only allowed me to observe the inner workings of a government agency, but has also placed me in a position to gain valuable knowledge and skills through first-hand experience. There is a great spirit of camaraderie in the organization, contrary to my belief that there is a great deal of office politics everywhere especially in the Civil Service. People were understanding and appreciative of one another, constantly keeping a lookout for each other. I also have the benefit of learning from my supervisors and others in the Finance Unit who were selfless in imparting their experience, knowledge and assistance.

The first thing that impresses me most is the dedication of the officers in the Finance Unit. They take pride in their work and are willing to sacrifice personal time to get things done to the best of their ability. I've learnt that every minor detail matters, especially when we are handling public funds. I've also realized the importance of meticulous documentation and filing.Close commas

Open commasI have always thought that the Civil Service work environment is a serious one with stern faces everywhere. But I was proven wrong the day I stepped into PS21 Office. Everyone was so cheery and helpful. During my two month attachment here, I had learnt to juggle with different tasks simultaneously and how to prioritize. I truly enjoyed this internship experience!Close commas

Open commasThe work environment over at Organization and Development Unit (ODU) is something that I have grown to enjoy. The people here, especially my supervisor make it a joy to come to work everyday. The friends I have made here with the other interns are definitely invaluable and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my experience working in PSD.

As a whole, the internship experience had been a wonderful journey. Though it was relatively short period, I gained a better understanding of what it is like working in the Civil Service. Not only did I gain new friends, but most importantly I started to understand the motivation that drives individual to serve in the public sector. It had been a brilliant experience for me to be part of the workings of such a dynamic and vital organization in the Public Service.Close commas

Open commasMy supervisors and department members were very warm, friendly and helpful. When I had queries, they responded promptly to the fullest extent, even when not within their scope of duty. The Finance Unit really felt like a team, like a family. My neighbours, especially the Organization Development Unit, were very nice people too. I enjoyed their company and the weekly running outings after work.

This internship experience was indeed an excellent one and I would no doubt recommend that my juniors take it up should similar opportunities arise for them.Close commas
