Who We Are

Challenge is a publication of the Singapore Public Service. Since its inception in 1995, it has grown from a humble newsletter to a feature-packed publication spanning both print and online mediums.

Staying true to its original mission to encourage innovation in the Public Service, Challenge approaches the Public Service differently by surprising our readers with the diversity and creativity of our Public Service, while daring to ask the hard questions that would spur us to higher heights.

With that out of the way, welcome – and thank you for reading Challenge!

Within these (web) pages lies a labour of love for the Public Service; a love that constantly tries to give all our 146,000 public officers something more to be proud of, yet isn’t afraid to ask the hard questions when the need arises.

Challenge is produced by the Public Service Division, and if you are a public officer, Challenge is your voice too. We want each story to be meaningful in some way to you, and leave you exhilarated, inspired or tickled, with food for thought that you will share, act on and tell us more about!

We are aware that not everyone gets the printed version of Challenge, but as we move towards a more digital-focused future, you will find the latest stories here on our website even before it hits print, so check back often for new content!

However, if you would like more printed copies of Challenge to be delivered to your agency so you can get hold of one for yourself, please let your corporate communications department (or equivalent) know.

If there’s a burning issue on your mind or you have a question or story idea for Challenge, we’d love to hear from you. Drop us a line at psd_challenge@psd.gov.sg.

We hope you enjoy reading Challenge!
