MG(NS) Ng Chee Khern to be Permanent Secretary (Defence Development)
MG(NS) Ng Chee Khern, 48, Director, Security and Intelligence Division, Ministry of Defence will be appointed Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) on 1 May 2014. As Permanent Secretary (Defence Development), he will oversee policies and issues related to manpower, finance, information technology, and defence technology acquisition and research.
Mr Chan Yeng Kit will continue as Permanent Secretary (Defence).
MG(NS) Ng joined the Singapore Armed Forces in 1984 on being awarded a President’s cum SAF (Overseas) Scholarship. He was appointed to the Administrative Service in 1995, and remained in the SAF where he rose to the rank of Major General. He held various command and staff appointments in the course of his military career, including Director Joint Operations Department and Chief of Staff HQ RSAF. He was the Chief of Air Force from March 2006 to December 2009 and is currently Director, Security and Intelligence Division, Ministry of Defence.
